    Linux is for …
Linux is for programmers and open-source nerds. Windows is for people that are stuck in that world for some reason or another. X_X Macs are for people who realized early on in life that the specs of a Mac to a PC = the same price. I don’t necessarily say Windows is for gamers, cuz Mac OS has almost all the games Windows does. Windows just has DirectX, which is more preserving of resources and displays video much better than OpenGL (which Windows used to use!)

BTW Mac OS is based of Unix. lol

    There’s no need to …
There’s no need to switch-on your PC if you just want to play PS3 alone.
I’m sorry to hear that about your PC, mine is stable and haven’t been turned off for 2 weeks until now (I’m downloading torrents 24/7, lol!)
So you already bought a new monitor huh? Congratz.

    I just got a new PC …
I just got a new PC with a 25″ HDTV monitor, then got a PS3 for Christmas. I was able to connect the PS3 to the HDTV monitor just like you did – used DVI for the PC and HDMI for the PS3. I just press the “source” button on the HDTV monitor to switch from the PC to the PS3.

    Yes, HDMI port is …
    Yes, HDMI port is required.
If you don’t have it on your monitor, then you have to buy a new monitor with HDMI port.

Oh it’s an input selector button.
When I press it, I can change the input sources between my PC and PS3. ^_^

    PS3 can be played …
PS3 can be played on any TVs including the old one you saw on my video there, but it is highly recommended that you play the PS3 on HD monitor/TV.
If your monitor has HDMI input, you can play PS3 or any devices that has HDMI output.
If your monitor only has DVI input, I’m afraid you can’t play PS3 with it.

    If it’s 1080p capable, I guess that’s alright.
If it’s just 720p, better not use it.
