Home Theater System HDMI?
HDMI is a little new to me. I am used to the old school stuff. If I have a home theater system that only has an HDMI out; if I have an Xbox 360 or system or something plugged into the Tv will I still get sound out of the home theater system or does it need to have an HDMI in??
Thanks
It has no inputs just the HDMI out
If you have a real receiver then you should wire your components all HDMI in to the receiver and HDMI out from receiver to tv... however it sounds like you bought an all-in-one-box hom theater with a built-in dvd or bluray so you can everything HDMI into the TV, then optical cable out from the TV to the receiver.

You’ll need to somehow run audio into the home theater system if you want sound to come out of it. What does it have for inputs?

Sorry, if it doesn’t have any inputs, you’re out of luck in terms of connecting any external devices to that unit.
Even the lower end surround sound systems that have HDMI inputs are often "HDMI passthrough" which means they only handle video, not audio, so if you’re looking for a new system make sure it has full hdmi ports, not passthrough.
