I Have A 2000 Watt DJ Speaker (1000 Rms) And I Need To Know What I Need To Get It Loud For Home Audio??

1000 RMS.. I want to use it as for partys and whatnot.. But i cant seem to get it louder than my computer.. im sure i need a receiver and maybe an amp.. but im quite clueless.. Any help is apperciated!

IF this speaker does actually do 1000wRms, you'll need a large amplifier. I have to disagree with A1 Roz. Just as you can overpower a speaker and cause damage, you can underpower a speaker and damage both the amp and the speaker. There are very few speakers on the market that will reproduce 1000wRms and they are very expensive. You mention only one speaker and I guess it is a whole cabinet, full range? At any rate you'll need a large amplifier.

You can’t make 1000RMS speaker capacity hit on a small capacity of watts. You will need at least 100 Watts RMS Amplifier to make it move and you should get a decent thump, but your talking 1000 here…thats allot.
You can feed that spoeaker a 500watt rms amp wide open and never blow it.
