SAMSUNG Home Theater System "MADE FOR IPOD" Is Not Playing IPOD, Works Fine Otherwise, Can Any1 Help?

I have a SAMSUNG Home Theater System, model HT-Z310. It says directly on the receiver it is "MADE FOR IPOD." My IPOD is a 5th generation, IPOD video, model #AS211.

I followed the instructions and I have the IPOD dock plugged into the back of the receiver correctly. I have changed inputs through the receiver remote so the receiver reads OSD IPOD, as the instructions say, but no audio comes out of the speakers.

Both the IPOD and Home Theater System work fine outside of this. My IPOD works fine with headphones (and my iHome) and the home theater system plays audio through the speakers fine when I watch regular cable or a DVD.

Is there something I am missing here? I am fairly literate with this kind of stuff and followed the instructions but still, no audio through the speakers for the IPOD. The IPOD does receive a charge when placed in the dock, so I know the receiver is seeing it, its just there is no audio coming out of the speakers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Nicholas: I have the same set up. When you dock the ipod, does the ipod screen say "device connected"? If not, you need to make sure your firmware is up to date. I was not able to even get the home theater to recognize the device until just recently (have had the same ipod & home theater for about a year). Since getting the ipod to play on the home theater was not the highest priority in my life, I did not do anything about it again until just recently.

Here is what worked for me: plug in ipod. Turn on TV & set it to DVD. Cycle through to "Ipod" on the home theater controller, then press the "enter" button on the Samsung remote. This should give you the Ipod menu screen that the instruction manual (page 48) talks about. From this menu you can cycle through your playlists.

None of this is particularly user friendly.

Note that you can't play back video that is on your ipod with this particular model of Samsung home theater. I'm sure there is some way around that, however, with the appropriate cabling plugged directly into the TV if your TV is new.

I am listening to my Christmas music now (yes it is early for that but I got tired of trying to dink around with the remote control to get back to a different playlist). As I said, it could be more user friendly. The Samsung remote practically requires an advanced degree to operate. I can only claim that I got it to work - not that I am an expert!!

Update: use the little "return" button on the remote to get out of your playlist and return to prior menu (all playlists).
