Yeah man that’s the key. The further back your speakers are the more you turn them up. My 7.1 goes like this. (MCACC)Center -1, Fronts +1, Surrounds +6, and Surround Back +9. That will give a much more dynamic surround effect for your system. However. I have found a well calibrated 5.1 setup is superior to 7.1! I am currently getting rid of my surround back speakers.

ps just too add a bit more the onkyo is way better at video then the elite ie upconverts to 1080p via hdmi the elite wont do that i think onkyo has a 908 coming out that i would love to get my mits on but the warden may shoot me lol
its really a toss up i chose the elite as i like the ice amps in it that run cold as i have very little clearance above the units

the onkyo is nice but it runs hot the denon has lots of features but does not have the sound quality of the elite or onkyo the elite to me is a fine unit and likely the best of those 3
