Home Theater Speaker Buyer Help?
I would love to have speakers that are high quality when turning up the volume but I do not want to spend more than $1500 if i do not have to. I want a receiver with 1080p upconversion and has HDMi 1.4 for 3d and I want a 7 speaker system.
The system I want doesn't have to be loud, I am not going to turn up the volume so that the neighbors can hear it but I want a system that could be good enough to where I do not want to upgrade later if needed. I have seen speaker I like but they are a little expensive, after promotional gift cards and stuff like that this whole entire system would cost $2200 but I don't think it's worth it.
Would you think buying a system over $2000 is really worth it? I just want something that sounds very very clear and can go loud if actually needed. I am in a bedroom setting at 13.5'x10'. This system could be moved out of this bedroom in the upcoming couple years and I love to play video games, blu-ray movies, and music with my current 10 year old 2.1 system.
Here are links to speakers I would love to have...They are a lot of money but are they really worth it?
Klipsch Synergy S-2 (About $450 a pair): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882780015&cm_re=synergy_s-2-_-82-780-015-_-Product
Klipsch Synergy C-2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882780006&Tpk=synergy%20c-2
Klipsch Synergy F-2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882780008&Tpk=synergy%20f-2
here are speakers that are cheaper
Polk Audio 50 Floor Speaker: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290013
Energy CC-5 Center Channel: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882269011
Klipsch Synergy S-1: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882780014&cm_re=synergy_s-1-_-82-780-014-_-Product
I simply just want to know if the more expensive speakers are simply worth it. I love quality but I hate spending way to much money...even if the sound is just slightly better I would go with the cheaper units. Would a home theater in a box be fine at high volumes or no?
Yes I have the money to get the more expensive speakers. Also here is the receiver I want to get. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882120166
You raise a very rich question, I am sure the calvary is on the way. I think I hear the thundering heard in the distance. lol. Yes the more expensive speakers and overall music equipment the more rewarding, if you love music. Music or the spoken word in some shape or form must be your passion in order for a $2,000 price tag to compute. I would encourage you to get what you can afford, step by step. Maybe it might take a few years to get the Klipsch Synergy S2 speakers but you can stay in the Klipsch line for less than $450 a pair. When you are ready you can trade up. I have the Energy Take 5 speakers, they are directional and tend not to fill up the room, but the subwoofer is rated at 200 watts and makes up the shortage by rounding out the full sound of the Energy speakers. I don't think you can go wrong with your choices for speakers. I guess, my best advice is to consider the type of music you listen to. Not every speaker is equipped to play the type of music we prefer. And trust me, every speaker brand has a strong suite, for a certain type of music. I have to say you should consider the Dayton B652 speakers. They are in the same league as Polk and Energy. Dayton has done some of the best work we have seen in a long time.

The Dayton B652 can be had at a reasonable price, $25 for a pair, and you miss nothing the higher end brand names offers. It is worth the look and most likely the investment.
Furthermore, you cannot go wrong with Onkyo. You can build up to a seven speaker set, and save some money for now. As a rule whenever, you put together your own system, their is less chance you will pay for a compromise in your home theatre. I would start off with the B652s they are that good. Then take it from their. The purchase of a straight amp like Pioneer with the option for an ipod dock connection and a nice set of speakers. Is a great start. You have time, to build a home theatre system, use it and at the same time find great bargains to save money. I suggested an overachieving B652 speaker set. Another option that can work beautifully with your decision to use Onkyo as your receiver would be a set of Wharfdale 8.1 Pro Diamond speakers, they sit at about $500 for a pair, you will not have a moments worth of regret. http://www.zzounds.com/item--WHADP81A
Best.
here’s my setup:panasonic 46" lcd $3000
xbox 360 elite $800
Sherwood 5.1 Receiver (100 watts per channel) triple HDMI and 1080p up scaling $600
dali concept sub $1000
sherwood floor standing 120w $400
dali concept centre $400
sherwood bookshelves 100w as the rear Speakers $300
now the point of all that is dali and sherwood and extremely high quality in fact world renowned
and way better that polk and all these prices ire aus dollars so take 20% of the price that’s how much it would be in usa the best Choice for a 7.1 Receiver is onkyo (about $1000 us) and get dali concept range trust me its well worth it there more compact speakers start at around $350 us and the way up to like $15000 or something for ther 2.3 metre tall towers of sound but a good balance would be:
concept centre
onkyo 7.1
concept 6 for fronts or if you are willing to spend more the 8 or 10 model (10 cost 3 grand thought)
concept 2 or 1 for rears and i dont know what you would choose for sides ive only ever had 5.1 but i guess the same as rears for balance or same as fronts for volume and power its up to you though
p.s never ever get a home theatre in a box they suck by the way im 17 and every cent i have either goes on my home theater ofr my car =)

Some speakers are overpriced and some are worth every penny, even really expensive ones.. and then some are real bargains..I think Klipcsh are over prices Polk are neither a bargain nor over priced…and Energy has some real bargains but them again some models cost a lot too…I like the Aperion Intimus 4T line and think they are worth the $1500 they charge for 5.1 set but when you think about it that its five good speakers hat are well made quality looks sounding good; a sub woofer that is pretty decent..so no upgrading required…another real bargain is the Jamo s 406..these can easily match a set of polks but look at the price….oh and onkyo is probably a good choice the most technology for the best price…
