Is Polk Audio Home Speakers The Best?
does polk audio speakers for home theatre is a right fit?
Will onkyo tx sr 805 with polk audio RM 6880 speaker system will make a decent home theatre set up?
Polk are decent speakers and will work well for home theater.
But there are HUNDREDS of other brands out there. Some are a lot more accurate & detailed. But you are pushing $2,000 per speaker to get the increased accuracy.
Also - newbies often post:
"For $500 - which of these 3 speakers are the best?"
and a fight ensues with no truthful answer.
Dont be this Newb.
Speakers have 'flavor'. What I like and what other posters here like wont be the same. And there is no good way to measure/rate speakers from best to worst.
The safest advice I can give you is that you should take a CD (Not a DVD movie) and try and listen to several speakers, including the Polks you are considering. It should be a favorite CD. If the Polks make your familar music sound good - put them on your short list to buy.
Then leave the store.
Come back in a few days with a different CD and re-listen. Whatever speaker sounds good on 2 different trips - buy them.
Your ears quickly become fatigued. If you listen to crappy AM music on the way to the store - every speaker sounds good. If you listen to a high-end speaker system, then go to the more budget models - they will all sound like crap.
Be aware of this and make 2 visits to avoid over buying.
I think they are the best, or at least in the top 3.
