Home Audio Speakers Hook Up To PC Sound Card?
can i hook home audio speakers up to my computer through a sound card and have no amp? what kind of sound card would do that?
Yes u can but the only problem u face will be the types of audio connection ports from sound card, embedded sound chip or speakers and PS supply.
There is a power source supply to your home audio speaker (no power source forget it, get a new speaker for your PC becos PMPO, WATT or RMS could not achieve without power to your home audio speaker) &
Check these ports first :
SPDIF - RCA to RCA?
Digital Output/input port - uses optical fibre glass cable?
Type of Line in/out hole e.g similar hole for earpiece type?
etc.
Usually check your home audio speaker connection port before getting a sound card.

You can use your current sound card that you have at the moment, but to get rid of distortion, i would go for an external sound card, check out: http://www.ebuyer.com they are good for really cheap and effective external sound cards.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I wud suggest you not to do so, as it may damage ur sound card. Since higher capacity speakers generally demands more power to operate and sound card is too small to deliver that power to ur Home audio speakers.
Still if u wish, u can try some commercial hardware devices, like the ones which are used by DJs. To find out specific devices, i wud recommend u to contact any good DJ using PC for mixing the musik.
Hope that wud answe ur query.
Take care,
Jeet

Caution : Speaker with a pair of black and red colour wire with bare copper wire at the end – usually cant connect to sound card
because sound card used audio port.
ANY SOUND CARD WILL WORK, JUST GET AN AUDIO CABLE THAT HAS HEADPHONE JACK ON ONE END ANS RIGHT AND LEFT COMPOSITE PLUGS ON THE OTHER END, PLUG INTO YOUR SOUND CARD/AUDIO OUT, ON PC THEN THE RED AND WHITE PLUGS TO THE STEREO INPUT AND YOUR JAMMIN!

It depends on the speakers you plan on using, the sound card may not be able to drive the speakers.

Either I have misunderstood your question or everyone else here has
I think you are saying that you want to hook up your speakers without an amplifier – in which case they will not work. Your conventional soundcards do not have an amp that can drive conventional HiFi speakers, and I have never heard of one that does.
You CAN however use the output of your soundcard and connect it in to an AUX IN if your home system has an extra input – this would require a simple stereo jack to stereo RCA connectors (Y cable).
There is sound adjustment on your soundcard via windows volume control, so be careful about the levels you use as you could damage your HiFi or speakers quite easily! Use a moderate level from the PC and keep the HiFi at low level (initially!)
